1st Anniversary

Believe it or not (I hardly can), Donnie has put up with me as his wife for almost 12 full months! So this time last year I was a complete basket case. Actually, no I wasn't that bad. I was calm, cool and collected until I was left standing all alone with no one but my wonderful son as an escort. All of our family and friends were seated in the sun and ready for the party to start no doubt.
Looking back now, all I can remember is thinking, "Man, I wish I had Donnie to talk to right now. I wish he were standing here walking with me." I have been told that my pace down the aisle was very brisk. I had tunnel vision, all I saw was that tall, strong vision in ivory standing in front of a full waterfall waiting for me. Of course it all went by way too fast.
And don't let me mislead you, we have had our share of issues in this first year. Many people warned us we would. We were both shocked at how the little things that never crossed our minds before were now like Mt. Everest in the middle of our house. We have fussed, I have cried, some yelling took place (sorry Kobe), but all in all, the fact that we are still under the same roof and speaking to each other means more than I could have imagined.
I have a partner in life. I have a friend for ever. We still enjoy each others company most of the time and don't have to explain when we need space.
One of our marriage mentors has been our friends Denisa and Robbie. To me, they are the shining example of a young married couple. You can tell when their together that they are happy and that they still love each other and that thier relationship works. A couple of years ago, we were going to a work Christmas dinner. Donnie and I had pulled up in the parking lot and I saw the Selph's car pull up. So I walked toward their car to greet them and talk on the way in. I could see thru the tinted windows that I was interrupting a make-out session. It was so sweet! I know it sounds crazy, but I didn't think people who had been married for years still "made-out". That moment in the cold, snow mounds of the parking lot was monumental to me and my future marriage. I thought if they can do keep it going, so can we.
Anyway, as Donnie and I approach this "paper" anniversary we have decided to gift each other with a bathroom remodel project that we will probably do on our week off work. Nothing special planned. But then everyday together is an adventure and a milestone.
I LOVE YOU HUSBAND!
